January programming highlights. Pancho and Glam Slam: WTA Fashion
Show are two vastly different programs which share a singular
goal: bringing tennis fans behind-the-scenes by showcasing the

Crystal Spring Productions, the production company of famed
boxing commentator and sports announcer Jim Lampley, presents a
unique, one-hour documentary on tennis legend Pancho Gonzalez.
This intimate portrayal follows Gonzalez over 30 years ago, in
1972, at his final tournament, which he won, at age 41. The great
"Pancho", as he is best known, is one of the sport's
more colorful, controversial characters. He grew up poor in the
Latin barrio of Los Angeles dropped out of school to further his
tennis game, and became one of the game's all time champions.
Glam Slam: WTA Fashion Show - Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004 - 8 p.m. ET
The Tennis Channel brings together the best athletes in the WTA
and Hollywood celebrities at the annual WTA Tour Charities Gala
for a night of glitz and glam. Hosted by Roshumba Williams,
former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and accomplished
correspondent, The Tennis Channel special showcases the televised
debut of Venus and Serena Williams' respective clothing lines -
Wilson Leather and Aneres. WTA athletes Jennifer Capriati, Kim
Clijsters and Elena Dementieva joined surprise guests Brandy and
Kelly Rowland on the catwalk to model the sisters' designs as
well as clothes from the Poleci line.
The Tennis Channel catches up with guests Justine Henin-Hardenne,
Amelie Mauresmo, Lindsay Davenport, Friends Matthew Perry, Boris
Kodjoe of Showtime's Soul Food and others during the pre-event
cocktail reception and silent auction. Proceeds from the gala
benefit the City of Hope, one of the world's leading research and
treatment centers for cancer, diabetes and HIV/AIDS, as well as
the Domestic Violence Clearinghouse and Legal Hotline (Stop The
Violence), the STAPLES Center Foundation and WTA Tour Charities.
